Submission Guidelines
WordTech Communications LLC welcomes submissions of book-length poetry manuscripts from residents of the United States. Unlike most poetry publishers, we do not charge reading fees. All chosen manuscripts are published under a royalty contract.
Submissions: Our annual open reading period is during the month of November. To submit at other times during the year, please query via e-mail.
Our books are selected and published through six imprints, each with a different focus:
Cherry Grove Collections. Lyric poetry.
CW Books. Diverse styles of poetry. More experimental poetry would have a better chance with this imprint.
David Robert Books. Poetry written with special attention to craft. In practice this means formal poetry or free verse that has careful attention to sound and rhythm.
Turning Point. Narrative poetry.
Word Press. No restrictions on subject or style.
WordTech Editions. Poetry that connects human experience to larger contexts, such as historical, political, or natural/environmental. The formal style of a book here is less important than its thematic focus.
We encourage you to browse our imprint websites, read the book descriptions and sample poems posted there, and let us know which imprint you feel fits your manuscript best. This will not preclude us from considering your work for all of our imprints, but it is helpful in allowing us to understand where you see your work best fitting. Manuscripts should be minimum of 30 pages; we will consider chapbook-length work but it will be published as a full-length collection with perfect binding. (Using Elizabeth Bishop's work as a guide, a book's length and its quality are not necessarily correlated.)
Please read our discussion of book sales and FAQ for more information about our editorial and sales policies; authors who publish with us must very comfortable with helping to bring their work to an audience. Also please read our marketing tips for authors.
Additional Guidelines: Please indicate that you have read all guidelines and linked pages thoroughly and that you understand them; your submission will constitute acceptance of those guidelines. If you do not indicate understanding of our guidelines, your submission will not be considered. No submissions will be returned. No e-mail submissions. We will not consider submissions from outside the U.S. Do not include an SASE. The volume of submissions received means that we will contact you directly ONLY if we have interest in your work. Please include name, telephone number, address, and e-mail address so we can get in touch with you. We will respond to e-mail queries about the status of your submission as time allows. Simultaneous submissions are permitted.
